Miriam Farber

   Miriam was born to Naomi and Arthur Lowy on April 23, 1923 in Brooklyn, New York. She went to Erasmus High School, and later graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in communications. She was a professional actress with many roles on the stage and screen, including "The Wizard of Oz". On June 26, 1949, she married attorney Irving Farber in her mother's house. She was also a fine artist, potter, and conditioned athlete. The couple had one daughter, by adoption, and later 4 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and one great grandchild. In the late '70's, they moved to Leisure World in Southern California. There she was one of the co-founders of the Earthquake Community. She attended the lapidary classes taught by Russ Hind, where she learned how to make commessi (intarsias). Miriam passed away on November 2, 1999.
