Larry Blom

   Larry was born on February 8, 1908 in Harvey, North Dakota. He worked as an auto mechanic, and got married in 1934. In 1937 they moved to Seattle, Washington where they had one son and one daughter. From 1943-1945 he served in the 14th Armored Division under General George Patton. After the war in 1948, he worked for the Army Corps of Engineers until his retirement in 1965. He then opened an auto repair shop and worked for another 4 years.

   In 1969 he moved to Leisure World and one year later began to study lapidary under Russ Hind. In 1975 he made his first commesso (intarsia) and until his death in 1999, he completed several beautiful and patriotic pictures.
