was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on February 8, 1945. She attended
Cabrini College in Pennsylvania where she received her degree in education
with a minor in math. She taught first and fourth grade for a few years
before stopping to have a family. Kathy used her creative talents drawing,
then sewing for her three daughters. She still sews, but now for her three
granddaughters. After her three girls were in school, Kathy took a refresher
course in math, then got a job as a bookkeeper and worked in that career
for 18 years. In 1979, at Parents Without Partners, she met Gary Statton.
Gary & Kathy married and have lived in West Chester, Pennsylvania for
over 30 years.

introduced Kathy to rockhounding and Tuscarora Lapidary Society. She became
a member in 1980. Many summer vacations were spent collecting from all over
the USA. Taught by her husband, she started making cabochons back in 1980.
After making lots of cabochons, her next adventure was to learn silverwork.
She learned how to make Channel Jewelry from Dorothea Freeman and then Intarsia
from Betty Smith Kathy now teaches Channel Jewelry and Intarsia at Tuscarora
