Chuck Woods

   Chuck was born in Montreal, Canada on April 2, 1915. After he was graduated from high school, he moved to Detroit and then to Dayton, Ohio. In 1947 he married Paula Renegar who had two children from a previous marriage. They moved to Wisconsin in 1948. Chuck worked in the aerospace industry, making investment castings (molds and casts for airplane motors).

   They moved to Culver City, California in 1952, where he remained until he retired in 1971. They spent the next ten years living and traveling all over the United States and Canada in a motorhome. In 1982 they settled in Leisure World, California. There he took up lapidary under the tutelage of Russ Hind. He began to produce many commessi (intarsias) including three maps of the United States.
