Alfred C. Webber

   Al began his career in New England, where he graduated from Bates College with a B.S. in Physics and an A.M. from Boston University. He taught science at Franklin and Brookline High Schools in Massachusetts. He joined the Plastics Department of the DuPont Company in 1942, and retired in 1972. He became a member of ASTM (American Society of Testing and Materials), and its President in 1962.


   He began the lapidary hobby in 1971, became a master in cabochons and faceting, and now is an enthusiastic micromount collector and photographer. Color slide photography and amateur astronomy have also been hobbies for many years. Alfred took many of the pictures of his fellow Tuscarora Lapidary Club members' commessi (intarsias) for this database.
